Holistic Dentist
Dr Stuart
Ferraris is an Holistic Dentist.
What is an Holistic Dentist?
The Holistic Dentist as a priority has to
fulfill all the needs expected of him as a good
dentist.
Beyond satisfying all that is needed to be a
good general dentist, the Holistic Dentist has
to have a much wider knowledge and experience.
There is no limit to this wide demand, so
continual education is always a must with the
holistic practitioner.
The Holistic Dentist must understand how the
occlusion, the “bite” is best serving his
patient, how it is effecting the comfort of the
facial muscles and head, neck and back. If there
is head pain or neck and backache, the Holistic
Dentist needs to be able to assist his patient,
either directly with his own treatments, or know
to whom the patient is best referred. The
Holistic Dentist should know the physiological
effects of the oral health on the general health
of the body, as well as that of the body on the
mouth. The holistic dentist should have a very
good knowledge of medicine, nutrition,
homoeopathy, chiropractic, hypnotherapy,
acupuncture, massage, psychology and many other
treatment modalities that may be relevant to the
patient. Toxicology is an important area of
concern these days, so it is very important for
the Holistic Dentist to be aware of these and
their effect on the patient, as well as how best
to deal with these problems (e.g. Removal of
Mercury Fillings and Appraisal of Root Canal
Fillings and their effect on health).
