It’s been said that the journey of healing and discovering one’s true self is like the unpeeling of an onion, there’s always another layer! Travelling into my “onion” has been a challenging, painful, empowering and ultimately liberating experience. Each difficulty has brought with it a gift of understanding and empathy that I would not exchange. I took my first terrified step to see a psychotherapist in 1990, I was ill, exhausted, and in despair, a mother of two small girls, lonely in my marriage and extremely self-critical. In therapy, I felt worse before I felt better, but slowly a light started to dawn, maybe I was an OK person?, maybe I could be happy?, I was hooked. I completed my counselling diploma in 1993 and started up my own therapy practice in Winchester.
Following my divorce, a driving desire to understand more about relationships led me to train in Intimate Relationship Skills at Spectrum, London, in Systems and Behavioural Couples Therapy in Hampshire, and a Gender, Sexuality and Bodywork training in France. The trainings offered me deep healing and understanding of my own, and other people’s, behaviour. I was now able to expand my practice and began working with couples. I also discovered a love of teaching and ran classes in self esteem, assertiveness, counselling and parenting skills.
As I became more integrated and grounded, my awareness of transpersonal and spiritual dimensions opened. The study of Reiki, meditation, Soul Retrieval and Plant Spirit Medicine has forged relationships with inner allies whose love and guidance continue to empower my work.
In 2004, with my children grown, I felt called to move back to Wales, to be closer to my family, my ancestors, and the wild and sacred places. I am now living in the Nantlle valley. My most recent training, with Roger Woolger in Deep Memory Process regression work, has fuelled my fascination with the soul’s journey, and the influence of past lives. This process offers a way of working with the body, mind and soul, affecting release on all levels.
The personal experience of all these stages of healing is a chord that runs right through my work, and means that I am able to fine tune my approach to whatever level is appropriate for each client.
