What is McTimoney Chiropractic?
The spinal column contains 26 moveable bones and also houses the spinal cord through which nerve information is passed to the rest of the body. While the spine is correctly aligned this information is passed accurately, but if any part of it becomes misaligned then a nerve may become compressed, distorting the information passed along it. This may then lead to pain, reduced mobility or other conditions. A joint may become misaligned for many reasons, such as incorrect lifting, accidents, sports injuries, pregnancy or poor posture.
Correction of misalignments through chiropractic treatment helps to restore the flow of correct nerve information. As a result patients report a wide range of improvements, such as relief from the conditions listed on the right.
McTimoney chiropractic is a gentle technique developed by John McTimoney over 30 years ago. McTimoney chiropractors use only their hands to detect misalignments of the skeleton, which are then adjusted by a number of light, swift and dextrous techniques. McTimoney chiropractic is a whole body treatment which restores a working balance to all the joints of the body. Postural advice and remedial exercises are also given where appropriate.
The gentle nature of McTimoney chiropractic makes it suitable for people of all ages including babies, pregnant women and the elderly.
